Studying medicine typically requires students to specialise in certain areas. And so, those who obtain a medical qualification often pursue a speciality training pathway ranging from emergency medicine through obstetrics or ophthalmology to pediatrics. Students may also choose to pursue a general practice pathway upon receiving the qualification.
